Flying Over the Influence is a drunken flight simulator for mobile devices and the Unity WebPlayer.
Pick from three distinct planes with varying flight characteristics. Fly through rings to boost your score and shoot down balloons to increase your time remaining. Beware the purple balloons, they will give you bonus time in a pinch but also cause inebriation, making flight more difficult.
Robert Utter and I originally developed the idea for the 2014 Global Game Jam in January. We liked the way that it was heading and decided to continue work until GDC.
I was responsible for all of the art assets including the planes, pilots, rings, balloons, and environment. Robert did the coding, sound, and UI.
Key features include:
Three unique planes to choose from with different strengths and weaknesses
Large world to explore and find hidden rings
Physics based flight controls
Multi-platform controls (keyboard for web, gyro for mobile)
Ability to calibrate a custom "neutral" position for gyro input
Camera and flight controls dramatically affected by drinking
