I participated in the Global Game Jam (2014) with my friend and programming wizard Robert Utter. We set out to build a "drunken flight sim" because it seemed just ridiculous enough to be fun. Unfortunately the Game Jam fell on a busy weekend for both of us so we couldn't get everything we wanted completed and decided to finish it as a demo for the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.
We are going to be having another round of building this weekend and are planning to add a better environment and flight mechanics that will work on mobile devices utilizing the gyroscope. Our rough test last week worked but was really slow so hopefully we can get that hammered out and working well.
My goals for the weekend is to finish the main environment model that will be the base of the game world. Once that is complete I am hoping that Unity's terrain editor will let me use the procedural textures, if not then I will have to get creative with the texturing.
After the world is finished I will get started on finishing the other two planned planes and pilots for the game, hopefully...
